Frequently Asked Questions

What is the operating procedure, how do I know I followed it, and that it functioned correctly?

Check the mouth and have the subject remove any foreign loose material, excluding piercings or dentures.  A minimum deprivation period of fifteen (15) minutes must be observed by the operator to ensure the subject does not vomit, smoke, ingest, or contaminate the mouth.  The observation needs to be maintained until the second sample collection has been completed.

You have successfully followed the procedure if you pushed the green button and followed the prompts. The breath testing sequence is a nine (9) step sequence.

The enhanced software adds the ability to complete the Officer’s Affidavit and print it at the successful completion of the breath test sequence. During the breath test you need to watch the digital display to verify the successful completion of the nine (9) step sequence.

The enhanced software has safeguards built into it that will abort the test if it detects anything out of tolerance with the Intoxilyzer, the simulator control test, the subject’s breath sample, or one of the blank analyses. When you get the printed Affidavit the Intoxilyzer has functioned correctly and the operating procedure was followed.

What if the subject gives false information, i.e. false name?

Hold onto the affidavit for evidence for filing additional charges on the subject, then re-test the subject with the correct information if you are still within the two hour time frame.

If you have already sent the Affidavit into Service Oklahoma Records Division before becoming aware of the false information, you will need to contact them as soon as possible to report the correct information.

What if the Affidavit is not legible, the toner cartridge is low?

If the toner cartridge is low, take it out and shake it a few times and reinstall it, then press F1 on the keyboard to reprint.  If the reprint is still not legible, install a new printer cartridge.

If all you have is the Internal Printer paper copy of the test results, contact the Board requesting reprints.
