OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak will host and moderate a national forum about earthquake insurance. The Center for Insurance Policy and Research (CIPR) summer event, All Things Earthquake, will take place Friday in Chicago.
“The importance of earthquake insurance is growing in Oklahoma and across the country,” said Doak. “The goal of this event is to expand knowledge, share ideas and make sure my counterparts and I are doing all we can to take care of consumers.”
Commissioner Doak proposed topics and speakers for the forum which was organized by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The event will cover the following topics:
Speakers include: Glenn Pomeroy, chief executive officer of the California Earthquake Authority; Steve Horton, geophysicist at the University of Memphis Center for Earthquake Research and Information; Kyle E. Murray, hydrogeologist at Oklahoma Geological Survey, and Don Windeler, senior director at Risk Management Solutions.
Nearly 200 regulators are expected to attend the forum held in conjunction with the NAIC Summer National Meeting.
